Conclusion of Sri Lanka Expo 2012
Sri Lanka Expo-2012, a mega trade, investment and tourism promotion initiative staged under the theme of “Partnering with the Hub of Asia” concluded successfully on 31st of March 2012 achieving all the set objectives of the event. Over the duration of the event, visitors were exposed to a well-crafted trade fair that offered innumerable opportunities for manufacturers and buyers to come together directly.
Expo 2012 launched amidst aplomb with 1300 foreign investors, buyers
The much awaited Expo 2012 was launched by President Mahinda Rajapaksa with much aplomb with 1300 foreign investors buyers from across the globe in attendance. The event was preceded by President Rajapaksa, Industries and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, Deputy Minister Jayaratne Herath and Sri Lanka Export Development Board Chairman Janaka Ratnayake lighting the floating lamps.
Exports not hurt by global recession – EDB Chief
The year 2011 was a very good year for exports with performance exceeding expectations and exceeding the revenue target of US $ 9.1 million and the services of exports were added, they would be still higher, EDB Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said.He said that the improved performance was driven by agricultural exports which grew by 10.6% and industrial products which grew by 27.3%. However, the fisheries sector dropped by 3.4%
Expo 2012 begins today
Sri Lanka Expo 2012, the mega trade, investment and tourism exhibition under the theme "Partnering with the hub of Asia" begins today at the BMICH in Colombo. We have well paid focus in having this exhibition and are confident of achieving the desired results. There are 1,300 confirmed trade delegates from over 60 countries, Sri Lanka Export Development Board Chairman and CEO Janaka Ratnayake told Daily News Business.
With $ 12.5 b target, Lanka ready for Expo 2012
Sri Lanka’s export sector, looking at a revenue expectation of $ 12.5 billion this year, is hosting the country’s largest mega trade, investment and tourism promotion initiative Expo 2012 from 28-31 March at the BMICH.Held under the theme of ‘Partnering with the Hub of Asia,’ the expo is being held after a lapse of 15 years with the last one being held in 1997.
